What We Do - Working Animal Welfare Camps Blue Cross conducts regular camps for working equines, bullocks and camels that belong to economically challenged families at Hyderabad. Over 45 working equines visit our camps at GhasMandi, old city, and 168 camels get treatment from time to time at various places. The programme extends timely veterinary care, hoof and saddle care, and better understanding of animal management practices, and finally retirement at our shelter- thereby benefitting the animals and their owner communities. You may help these animals by donating to sponsor a camp, or sponsor a retired / old aged working animal at our shelter. During 2011-12 Our eleven year long fruitful partnership for Equine Welfare with Brooke Hospital for Animals India concluded and the project and staff were deputed to Society for Rural and Economic Development (SRED) who has been working for 43 years at Kurnool. The achievements and learning’s from this project were immense and we will treasure the experience. For now, working equines are scarce in Hyderabad due to mechanization. |
