Who We Are - How Blue Cross Started Blue Cross of Hyderabad is a voluntary organisation that works for the welfare of animals in Hyderabad, India. Founded in 1992 by film stars Nagarjuna & Amala Akkineni and supported by animal friendly people, Blue Cross has extended help to over 300,000 sick, injured and abused animals and birds till date. Registered Society: The Organisation was registered as a Society in 1993, and is recognized by the Animal Welfare Board of India. It runs on donations and sponsorships from the community and has both 80G Income Tax exemption as well as FCRA registration. Location: Blue Cross of Hyderabad presently runs a two-acre animal shelter from where 9 projects for the welfare of animals are conducted all year round. The shelter is located at Jubilee Hills, Road No. 35, about 10 minutes drive from the well-known Kasu Bramhmananda Reddy Park, en route to Hi-Tech City. While being close to the heart of the city, the campus is in a very peaceful locale, surrounded by hills and vast open spaces and houses over 650 animals of different species. How It Started We tried to create a safe and caring place where sick, injured or abused homeless animals would be looked after. We tried to ensure that no animal would ever have to die neglected on the side of the street, in our home city. What Does Blue Cross Do?
