We rescued 6990 animals from the streets that were sick, injured in road accidents, abused, old or severely disable. These included cats, dogs, goat, pigs, cows, bullocks, buffalo, horses, donkeys, camel and birds. Some were city wildlife like peacock, monkeys and wild birds, of which 165 were released back into the wild after recovery. 685 homeless animals moved into good homes through our adoption programme. 872 cases of animal abuse were registered and dealt with, some given extensive counseling. 3304 stray dogs and cats were neutered. Our Veterinary hospital treated 4503 cases many of which were animals belonging to economically backward communities. Our mobile equine welfare unit covered Veterinary care for 1875 working animals in remote areas belonging to extremely poor communities. We extended our mobile unit into remote areas of the State. Our welfare / vaccination camps for anti rabies for stray dogs and anti tetanus for equines covered 16,692 animals. (Helping totally 34,921 animals of different species).
We were instrumental in changing the archaic Municipal Laws of our city and replacing them with the ABC programme. We organized training for 100 Municipal dogcatchers in the net system. We had a seminar for 24 animal welfare groups in the State on the ABC programme and trained them in humane education. We opened talks with the State meat corporation positively for the first time regarding humane slaughter in government slaughterhouses. We became founder members of the Federation of Indian Animal Protection Organizations.
